Council beta rules and privacy summary.

This page describes how the private Berlin Footnote workspace currently operates. It is a beta policy, not a public-tour publishing agreement.

Your account

Berlin Footnote stores your email, handle, display name, preferred language, password hash, Council tier, account status, assigned route rights, login dates and security/audit events needed to operate the beta. Passwords are not stored as readable text.

Your optional dossier

You may also choose to add a birthday, place of birth, current emotion, postal address, phone number, social-media affiliations, a short profile note and a private profile portrait. These fields are optional, editable and clearable. They are kept in the private Council system and are not published or displayed to other members by the profile page.

Your routes and uploads

Council-created routes, field uploads and profile portraits are private by default. Workspace administrators may access them when necessary to provide the service, investigate a security or access problem, handle a deletion request, or review material you ask Berlin Footnote to consider for collaboration or publication.

Publication and authorship

Creating a route does not publish it and does not transfer your authorship. Public release, licensing, credits, editing responsibilities and any payment must be agreed separately. You are responsible for material you add, including copyright, privacy, living-person, safety and source concerns; do not upload unlawful or abusive content.

Email

The Council system uses email for account confirmation, password recovery and necessary account messages. It does not add you to a newsletter without separate consent.

Closing an account

You can request closure from your profile. Login is disabled immediately. Berlin Footnote must first resolve any routes you own, then can delete or anonymize account data subject to necessary security records, backups and legal retention duties.

Beta changes

The workspace may change while it is tested. Material changes to these rules require a new version and renewed acceptance before they apply to your account.
